At Queen of Apostles, we support higher-achieving children with a wide range of extension opportunities. All staff work closely to challenge the higher achievers within year groups’ differentiation and everyday curriculum.
We also offer an Enrichment Program to students in Years 4 to 6. Students at the end of Year 3 are given the opportunity to complete the ACER General Ability Test (AGAT) that identifies students’ general reasoning ability. The test assesses students’ reasoning skills in three areas:
- Abstract (visual)
Students who perform well are also selected by teacher recommendation through classwork and assessments to participate in the Enrichment Program.
At Queen of Apostles, we have designed an exciting and unique curriculum for our academically talented students. Using Tony Ryan’s Thinker’s Keys as a stimulus, our Enrichment Programme for students in Years 4 to 6 is aimed at developing critical and creative thinking skills to enhance problem-solving capabilities. Each unit of work provides the opportunity for students to use creative, high-order, lateral thinking and problem-solving skills, challenging students beyond their comfort zones in a supportive environment.
Opportunities to participate in inter-school competitions such as Tournament of the Minds, Da Vinci Decathlon, APSMO Maths Olympiad are available for students in the program
